Heather Beaven | FL-07

Heather Beaven is running to unseat an incumbent in Florida’s 7th Congressional District.

She is a Navy veteran who received a Navy Achievement Medal during Operation Desert storm. After leaving the Navy, she returned to school and ultimately completed her Masters in Public Administration. She is currently the CEO of The Florida Endowment Foundation for Florida’s Graduates, where she helps see that young adults finish high school and receive the necessary job skills to excel in life.

WAND distinguishing points: As a veteran, Beaven will be a credible and progressive voice in conversations about our national security.

The seat: This strongly Republican district in the Northern portion of the state has been represented by Republican John Mica since 1992. He is running for re-election in 2010. Our partner organizations consistently give him low scores for his votes on peace and security issues.
